The other possibility is of course that it is a small clay pot tree-I have a fully grown clay pot in my garden...perhaps an older sibling?? As the first person to comment on my blog I am determined to help you in your quest for knowledge, though I'm not sure my well intentioned jibberish should really be described as "help" :P, speak soon keep up the good work x
If i am right with my eyes, this is a sacred tree -- it got a Sanskrit name, as we call it. I just lost it from memory...my mother knows. we have one near a temple at our place..not very common there though...
i'll let you know ...infact phone is dead back home, else i would have cleared it now...
btw, where did you see that? any holy place near? heard my mother saying it grows mostly in very sacred places...
So sweet and kind of you to visit this blog of mine.:) I saw it by the roadside but it is quite an isolated place.I do not remember seeing any holy place nearby. I will check again. Thank you, dear.:)
My dear Venus, whats this kindness and sweetness you are talking about? you are one of the first to reach...and you expect i don't drop in..?? i think have visited earlier also..normally i make my comment where ever I go...except if te last post is a very old one for the date i visit... so you an expect me any time here, have good pictures ready for me :-))
I just remembered the name. Naga-linga Pushpam in Sanskrit.
and then I just did a google search...The Tree is called Cannon Ball Tree, its found in Singapore and India it says..Flower a favourite of Lord Shiva and resembles the hood of a snake on Shivlinga
You can see a good picture of the tree with fruits:
I am not sure buddy. But, I remember asking the botanical society of Penang about this fruit few months ago and they too were not able to answer me. Will try to get the name for you again. Good effort.
To me it appears like Wood Apple or scientific name is Feronia Limonia. It is very popular fruit in South India and Sri Lanka. The tree is native to India and South East Asia.
You may verify my assestion by googling the names for the fruit I have given above.
My fruit knowledge is limited but I reckon they're figs :)
